Vanilla farmers want protection of their crop from thieves
Vanilla farmers and traders demonstrated at the office of Resident District Commissioner over the arrest of their colleague and the impounding of 300 kilograms of vanilla. Joy Mbambu said her husband’s crop had been stolen and this forced them to harvest what remained even though it was not due. They accuse the government of failing to provide them security which leaves them no option but to harvest prematurely.
