MP candidates worried about EC’s absence in parliamentary bid
Candidates vying for the position of member of parliament have expressed concern over the absence of electoral commission officials in various areas where they are meant to carry out their campaigns. They say the Electoral Commission's absence has greatly affected their campaigns because of the manner in which police officers and other security agencies interpret campaign guidelines. However, the chairman of the electoral commission Justice Simon Byabakama says the EC can not be every where, he says its incumbent upon MP candidates to liaise with district returning offers to manage the campaign process.
