Kenya fish traders block border movement
Kenyan fish exporters have closed their side of the Busia border this morning in protest at reports that the Ugandan authorities were impounding their fish for being immature. The exporters are adamant that Uganda has no business impounding immature fish transiting through the country to the Democratic Republic of Congo. They are also protesting claims that the trucks impounded were transporting immature fish collected from Lake Victoria, an activity that remains illegal in Uganda. But the Ugandans are also adamant that the trucks will not be released any time soon.
