TAXING REAL ESTATE: URA to deploy drones in urban areas
The Uganda Revenue Authority says it is set to deploy drones over the major urban and peri-urban areas in order to assess the profile of the country's real estate for purposes of taxation. URA's Commissioner for Domestic Taxes Patrick Mukiibi insists that this is part of the Authority's pursuit in strengthening tax revenue out of the multi-trillion shillings industry. However, the AREA is urging for a slow down on taxing the property sector, saying the ripple effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic is still reverberating out of the residential and commercial spaces.
