Parliament rejects inquiry into Gen. Muhoozi's statements
Parliament has rejected a move by a section of MPs to investigate the circumstances under which the Chief of Defense Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, issued statements that could potentially create a diplomatic situation for Uganda. When the matter was presented to the August House today, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, ruled that only the Defense Ministry has the jurisdiction or mandate to investigate and address the matter, under the UPDF Act. However, the MPs argue that the statements made by CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba contravene Article 208 of the Constitution and other sections of the UPDF Act.
