Government urged to prioritise funding for emergency services
The government has been urged to prioritise funding for emergency medical services to improve outcomes in saving the lives of those who may find themselves in need.
Emergencies place a significant burden on the health sector in Uganda, both in terms of resource utilisation and financial strain.
Various emergencies, such as medical, road traffic, paediatric, surgical, burns, and obstetric/gynaecological cases, contribute significantly to the country's health needs.
As Walter Mwesigye reports, the incidence of emergencies is rising, underscoring the need for a strengthened and more functional Emergency Medical Service system.
