FIBA WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS: Cash strapped Silverbacks withdraws
The Uganda national men’s Basketball team has withdrawn from the 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifiers. This after the federation of Uganda Associations FUBA failed to secure funds from government to facilitate the team’s trip to Angola for participate in the first window of the qualifiers. The team had been in camp at Lweza preparing for the tournament that throws off this weekend. FUBA president Nasser issued a written statement today declaring the teams unfortunate withdrawal from the competition. Uganda was slated to play against Nigeria and Cape Verde and Mali in the qualifiers.
