Regional army chiefs recommend expanding force’s mandate
The secretariat of the East African Standby force has recommended an extension of the force’s mandate to peace-keeping missions of the African Union and United Nations. The recommendations were made during the Chief of Defence forces meeting of member states in Kampala. They also discussed unconstitutional change of government as a major stumbling block for conflict resolution in the region.
