NIGHT ABDUCTIONS OR ARRESTS? Ex-international boxer Justin Juuko narrates ordeal
In the last few weeks, a number of people have been arrested at night from their homes by armed men in plain clothes. Many of the suspects have been detained in ungazetted facilities and some who have been released say they have been accused of planning to cause insurrection before and after the 14th January 2021 general election. Former professional boxer and Commonwealth gold medalist, Justin Juuko, who is also a member of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party is one of those who was arrested and later released without charge. Raymond Tamale now reports on Jjuuko's experience and the condemnation of such acts by human rights activists who urged the victims to seek redress in courts of law.
