Hundreds of houses razed as NEMA evicts encroachers
An operation by the the National Environment Management Authority to evict encroachers from Lubigi Swamp has extended to Nansana- Ganda where about 300 houses that were illegally constructed in the swamp, have been razed. The operation is also targeting people who had planted trees and other plants in the gazetted but heavily encroached wetland that is critical to the eco-system of Lake Victoria. Nema says they intend to evict all wetland encroachers across the country.
