TEXTILE AND GARMENTS TAX: Chamber of commerce, insists on stay of implementation
The Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry says govt now needs to urgently strengthen on key elements of the Textiles and Apparel Policy. This urge comes on the heels of an impasse between the Business fraternity and the tax agency over the 10% hike in the import duty for the textiles and garments imposed this new financial year. Olive Kigongo, the President of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry insists that developing of the Textiles and Apparel sector's value chains is more critical, ahead of industrialisation in import substitution.
