CHAN SQUAD NAMED: McKinstry drops four, Lwaliwa named captain
Uganda's national football team the Cranes have beaten Niger 3-0 in their final game of the pre-CHAN tournament this evening. Goals from Mlton Kariisa and Saidi Kyeyune early in the first half were enough to hand Uganda a comfortable win. Meanwhile, Uganda Cranes head coach Johnathan McKinstry has named his final squad for the upcoming CHAN tournament. McKinstry has decided to drop Wakiso Giants’ Hassan Ssenyonjo, BUL FC's Joseph Ssemuju plus URA FC duo of striker Steven Mukwala and defender Ashraf Mandela. Charles Lukwago, Denis Iguma, Bright Anukani and Brian Aheebwa will fill in those positions and have joined the team in Cameroon. The Northern Irishman has also announced that Vipers SC skipper Halid Lwaliwa will captain the side during the tournament. Uganda Cranes starts their campaign against neighbours Rwanda on Monday the 18th of January.
