MPs call for increased funding to strengthen child protection services
Members of the Parliamentary Forum for Children want the government to increase funding for child protection in the police Child Protection Unit and Probation Offices across the country. They say that due to inadequate funding, cases of child abuse have been rising, as culprits are not properly investigated and brought to justice. During a dialogue with rights agencies, including Save the Children Uganda, the MPs noted that mental and physical abuse negatively impacts children's education.
