Elderly in central region launch SACCO to tackle financial hardships
Elderly individuals in the Central Region have long grappled with financial hardships, struggling to access credit or invest in sustainable income-generating ventures. Many find their limited resources stretched thin, often bearing the responsibility of caring for grandchildren and other dependents left in their care. In response, and under the leadership of the Central Region MP for the Elderly, Penina Busingye, a group of senior citizens is forming a Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization named the Multipurpose Comparative Society. The initiative aims to empower members aged 60 and above by providing access to financial tools, encouraging investment in viable business ventures, and promoting their overall well-being.
