Unregistered vocational institutions given deadline
Vocational institutions have been given a one-year deadline to license their operations in line with new policy reforms introduced under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Act of 2025. This means that institutions that previously held licenses, for example, from the National Council for Higher Education, are now required to re-register with the TVET Council, as mandated by the Act. Failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe, which began on March 15, institutions will not have their students submitted for assessment, and any assessments conducted will be considered null and void. These remarks were made by Onesmus Oyesigye, Executive Secretary of the Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB), during the release of the November–December exam results.
