UGX 1.6tn plastic bags recycling industry under threat
The Uganda Plastic manufacturers and recyclers association have petitioned the government over what they term unlawful and misguided media campaigns instigated by the Ministry of Water and Environment and NEMA calling for the closure of recycling industries, saying the agencies are threatening the country’s 1.6 trillion shillings recycling investments. Moses Ategeka the association’s executive director says this coupled with the effects of Covid19 on the sector, nearly some 75000 green jobs for women, youth and other interest groups are also on the line.
