Taxi drivers walk out of meeting with transport ministry officials
A meeting between the Ministry of Transport and taxi operators meant to further discuss the Automated Express Penalty System failed to yield any results after taxi drivers walked out in protest against the ministry officials’ refusal to immediately suspend the system.
Although the ministry’s transport regulation commissioner, Winstone Katushabe, had clarified the move, taxi drivers have vowed to suspend operations on Monday.
