Mary Grace Kisaakye: A Beacon of hope on World AIDS day
On this World AIDS Day 2024, under the theme "Take the Rights Path: My Health, My Right!", Mary Grace Kisaakye, a resilient young woman who has bravely lived with HIV since the age of 10, shares her harrowing journey of survival and advocacy. After enduring the trauma of sexual violence at the hands of her maternal uncle, Kisaakye has not only confronted the emotional and physical ramifications of her diagnosis but has emerged as a vocal crusader against the stigma faced by those living with HIV in her community. As David Ijjo spoke with Kisaakye MaryGrace today, she stands as a beacon of hope and determination, advocating for the rights and dignity of all individuals affected by HIV through her work with the Uganda Network of Young People Living with HIV.
