Skilling irrigation technicians as government targets water infrastructure in FY2025 &26.
The government is set to roll out new support measures for farmers in the upcoming financial year, which begins in a week. Key among them is investment in irrigation infrastructure, ranging from subsidizing equipment purchases to promoting solar-powered systems and implementing large- and small-scale irrigation schemes. But experts at the Sendea Institute for Energy and Management warn that without a well-trained pool of technicians to install and maintain water pumping and irrigation systems, these investments may fall short of their potential.
