Africa moves to have its satellite system
Following the recent deadly Air India crash, Uganda’s aviation engineers are calling attention to Africa’s heavy dependence on foreign satellite systems for air traffic management. The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority’s engineers’ association urges urgent investment in a homegrown satellite navigation system to enhance airspace safety and autonomy amid fast-changing aviation technologies.
