Uganda aquatics trains teachers to curb rising drowning cases
Uganda loses over 1,000 people to drowning each year, including at least 10 children. In a bid to reduce these tragic incidents, Uganda Aquatics has trained 55 teachers from the Buganda and Eastern regions to provide swimming lessons to students ahead of the second school term, which begins tomorrow.
The initiative aims to equip students with essential swimming and water safety skills to prevent accidents. Uganda Aquatics also announced plans to roll out similar training programs across the country and will award certificates to all trained teachers.
