DP prepares for delegates’ conference as leadership in Bunyoro voices concerns
The opposition Democratic Party is preparing for its national delegates' conference scheduled for Friday, May 30, 2025, in Mbarara. Incumbent President General Norbert Mao will be contesting for the position against Bukoto Central MP Richard Sebamala.
On Wednesday evening, Sebamala met with the party leadership in the Bunyoro Sub-Region, seeking their endorsement ahead of the upcoming conference. The meeting brought together delegates from nine districts in the region, including Hoima City, Kikuube, Buliisa, Masindi, Kiryandongo, Hoima, Kagadi, Kibaale, and Kakumiro.
During the meeting, the party leadership in Bunyoro expressed concerns over the cooperation agreements between the DP leadership and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), highlighting internal divisions within the party.
