NDA nets nurse in Mbarara over illicit operations
Mbarara Central Police is holding enrolled nurse Hellen Tusiime on charges of selling government drugs in her private drug shop operating in Kakoba, Mbarara. Tusiime, who has been working at a government health facility in Ibanda District, has reportedly been selling syringes, painkillers, malaria, and HIV drugs labeled 'Not for Sale, Government Property' in her shop. National Drug Authority spokesperson Mr. Abiaz Rwamwiri has condemned the act and called upon Ugandans to report such cases to the authorities. Rwamwiri notes that since March 2025, the government has lost about six billion shillings through drug theft, with HIV and malaria drugs being the most commonly stolen.
