Justice Ministry mulls law reforms on abortion, infanticide
The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs is considering amending legal boundaries regarding the sexual and reproductive health of women and young girls, particularly regarding abortion and infanticide. According to Justice Minister Norbert Mao, the circumstances under which these laws are applied need to be closely scrutinized to empower women in managing such health crises. Mao told delegates during the reproductive dialogue that some girls find themselves jailed over abortion- and infanticide-related crimes, which prevents them from receiving proper rehabilitation and palliative care.
