Heroes' Marathon 2025: Running for trees and climate action
Hundreds of runners, walkers, and cyclists participated in The Great Outdoors in Kalanamu, Zirobwe, for the 5th edition of the Heroes' Marathon, held under the theme “Our Trees, Our Heroes.” Organized in partnership with Regenerate Africa, Rapid Advisory, and the Future Generations Foundation, the 2025 Heroes Marathon blended sports, environmental activism, and community engagement to raise awareness about forest conservation and climate action. Participants competed in distances of 42 km (a full marathon), 21 km (a half-marathon), 10 km, and 5 km, all winding through forest trails, village paths, and scenic natural routes unique to The Great Outdoors — an eco-forest resort just 45 minutes from Kampala.
