Financing challenges shadow Uganda’s oil projects
As Uganda looks forward to the commercial production of its first oil, the issue of financing remains a challenge, especially for major sector projects like the refinery and the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline—a mega regional project. On the other hand, contracts worth more than two billion dollars have already been issued to Ugandan companies and SMEs, though the issue of financing still stands out. This was highlighted at the KCB Bank Power Talk, a discussion on financing oil and gas projects in the region.
