Emphasis on high scores can negatively impact well being of learners
The release of final examination results for candidate classes is widely covered in the news. For days, those with high scores are featured in the newspapers and on television and their chances of getting admitted in the creme de la creme of schools.
However, some educationalists say that much as this is a celebration of academic excellence, it could also sow seeds of doubt in the minds of parents and their children who do not make the grade.
