Critical prenatal service shortages on Mpuuga Island
Access to prenatal and antenatal services for mothers on Mpuuga Island in Bweema sub-county, Buvuma District, is deplorably worrying due to poor and expensive means of transport to ferry expectant mothers to nearby health facilities. Even the few health centers in the vicinity lack the necessary facilities and equipment, have no electricity supply, and the medical workers deployed there have limited capacity to handle emergencies, as Patrick Ssenyondo reports.
