ADF in Congo: Over 48 child fighters surrender to UPDF
a four-month-old baby is among the 45 ADF abductees taking refuge at the Kasese Reception Center, which was established last year under the presidential initiative on peace, security and development in Rwenzori. The abductees took advantage of a presidential pardon and surrendered to the army. Meeting the abductees, the Chief of Military Intelligence, Maj. Gen. James Birungi, says the majority are juvenile captives rescued from the jungles of the DRC.
He is asking the East African Community, African Union and UN to work hard to end the cycle of radicalization that has turned innocent children into terrorists who are unaware of why they are in the struggle.
