New COVID-19 strain is being investigated - Prof Kaleebu
Studies are being conducted to establish the severity of the highly transmissive new COVID-19 variant that was detected in Botswana and South Africa in early November. Prof. Pontiano Kaleebu an immunologist at Uganda Virus Research Institute says the new variant has mutated more times than the existing ones. Several countries have banned flights from the southern part of Africa.
