NEMA urges farmers to adopt climate-smart agriculture and protect pollinators
The National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) has emphasized the importance of promoting climate-smart, sustainable agriculture in Uganda.NEMA Executive Director, Dr. Barirega Akankwasah, called for increased support for apiculture and aquaculture, describing them as key strategies for ensuring efficient use of natural resources for future generations.He stressed the need to conserve and multiply bee populations, noting that agricultural productivity cannot be achieved without effective pollination.Dr. Akankwasah made the remarks during the handover of 60 beehives to bee farmers in Hoima District. Each beneficiary received five beehives, each valued at Shs 150,000, fully procured by the Hoima District Local Government.
