From a young age, many women have experienced hurdles that have gotten in the way of their education, development and advancement. Some of them grow up in single-parent homes for various reasons. Research shows that there are over 490 million illiterate women in the world. Herbert Kamoga speaks to Omega Mirembe who makes shoes for a living, an art that has seen her pay her tuition fees at Makerere University.
