COMMON EXTERNAL TARIFF: Why the 35% band was created
Four hundred products are now under the protected category in the East African region by the introduction of the fourth tariff band of 35% besides the zero, ten and fifteen bands. According to the Uganda Manufacturers Association, the tariff proposed for protection purposes originally went as high as 41%.
