AVIATION INDUSTRY: Global losses hit $42bn in 2021
The international air transport association says the airline industry is getting back to pre pandemic levels despite a tough economic environment characterised by rising global inflation. The director general AITA Willie Walsh also says a sharp rise in energy prices threatens future industry growth on account of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine which has disrupted global fuel supplies. He was speaking recently at the air transport annual general meeting in Doha.
