Opposition questions Army Chief’s far-reaching powers
Government officials have failed to comment directly on how to handle the issues raised around comments and activities attributed to the Army Chief of Defence, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. This follows concerns from the opposition, who accuse him of behaving above the law, especially when he claimed that he was holding one of the bodyguards of NUP Party President Robert Kyagulanyi, while forcefully teaching him Runyankore.
The matter finally made it to parliament, through a submission by the leader of the opposition Joel Ssenyonyi.
