Kampala Archdiocese asks faithful to break silence, stigma on mental health
Kampala Archdiocese has called for a need to break silence and stigma surrounding mental health, addiction, and suicide, particularly within families.
The female head of marriage and family life, apostolate Winnie Mary Fernandes, said it is important to create supportive environments where individuals can openly share their struggles without fear of judgment, but also extend a hand of support by being present for those in pain.
This message comes ahead of a special Mass on May 15 at Lubaga Cathedral in commemoration of the Feast of St Dymphna, the patron saint of mental illness.
