UPDF bill tabled, sent to legislative and security committees
The Ministry of Defense has today tabled a bill in parliament to amend the UPDF Act, to bring civilians back for trial in military courts. As soon as it was tabled, the speaker sent the bill to the Legislative and Security Committees. However, MPs opposed to prosecuting civilians in military courts criticized the bill, claiming it aims to silence opposition politicians who had called for consulting citizens first.
