NRM’s EC says ready to organise smooth polls tomorrow
In less than 24 hours the NRM will once again embark on party primaries countrywide, this time for flag bearers for the Local Council 5 Chairperson, LC 5 councillors, and mayors. Despite the disruption from last Thursday’s primaries for parliamentary flag bearers which has seen seven registrars arrested for botched results, the party’s Electoral Commission says it is ready to organise smooth polls. Meanwhile, the party’s supporters in Kalungu District have threatened to boycott the Thursday elections due to the party’s failure to address irregularities that marred the parliamentary primaries last Thursday.
