LIFE ON THE ISLANDS :Solomon Lubandi turns caves into places habitable places
On Buggala, one of the 84 islands that make up Kalangala district, lies an ancient cave that was once inhabited by Chief Ssebuggala of the Monkey Clan of Buganda Kingdom. He took over the cave when the colonial rulers expelled the inhabitants of the Ssese Islands, in a bid to mitigate the sleeping sickness disease, which was ravaging the area. Today, one of his descendants lives in the cave. He has expanded it, to preserve its history to make it a tourist attraction.
