Who will return when schools reopen? | ON THE SPOT
On January 10th all schools in Uganda will re-open after almost two years of closure due to the pandemic. Ugandan children have missed school for the longest time than any other country in the world because of a strict lockdown. Whereas the majority of the students will be able to resume studies normally there are some who have no schools to return to. Some business people who owned schools before the pandemic has converted them into other businesses. There are teachers who have moved on and students who are now younger mothers with babies. To discuss the re-opening of schools and much more, we hosted the State Minister for Primary Education, Dr Moriku Joyce Kaducu and the UNATU secretary general Filbert Baguma.
