Over 1.2 million Ugandan homes to get free power connections
Over 1.2 million Ugandan households are set to benefit from free electricity connections backed by a loan worth 638 million US dollars from the World Bank. This follows the signing of two separate agreements between the Ministry of Energy and the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited, marking a major step in the rollout of the Electricity Access Scale-Up Project. The new push marks the beginning of Uganda’s journey toward universal energy access, as Betty Ndagire reports.
