Security free Dr Lawrence Muganga after 2 days in detention
Two days after he was roughly arrested from his office, security has released the Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University and chairperson of the Abavandimwe association, Dr Lawrence Muganga. Dr Muganga, whose association brings together Rwandans born in Uganda, was roughed up as he was picked up by joint security forces, on suspicion of being involved in espionage and issues concerning his citizenship. A day after his arrest, Dr Muganga’s lawyers and relatives condemned the violent manner of his arrest as uncouth, when he could have been summoned politely for questioning.
