More than 15 student activists arrested in EACOP demo
Police in Kampala have arrested about 15 members of Students Against Eacop Uganda Group, a body opposed to the construction of the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline, who were marching to the KCB Bank Offices on Lugogo Bypass.
The majority of students from various Universities accuse KCB Bank of partly participating in the funding of the 1,443 km heated pipeline that is being constructed to transport Uganda's crude oil from Hoima in Uganda to Tanga, Tanzania.
Recently, the same group protested at the offices of Stanbic Bank which is co-funding the project.
