MPs support UPDF Amendment Bill, call for fair implementation
A section of Members of Parliament who supported the passing of the UPDF Amendment Bill, 2025, say it is a good piece of legislation and will better regulate national security because people who misuse firearms will be dealt with by the court martial in real time and decisively. However, they want to ensure that those who will implement this law, especially the section that calls for the trial of civilians in army courts, exercise it with fairness to eliminate any doubts. Other MPs say the UPDF Bill, passed by Parliament yesterday, contains other positive provisions that will improve service delivery among military personnel, such as their pensions and medical treatment. NTV spoke to these MPs today, and now Juma Kirya reports.
