CJ Owiny Dollo dismisses application for recusal from election petition bench
Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo has declined to recuse himself from the bench hearing the presidential election petition challenging the victory of Yoweri Museveni in the January 14 presidential election. Lawyer Male Mabirizi filed an application asking him to quit the bench citing his earlier work with Museveni, as a source of bias. Mr Owiny-Dollo represented Museveni in a similar petition in 2006. The Chief Justice dismissed the case saying he did not find merit in the application.
