500 Senior 1 teachers train on new curriculum
Government under the directorate of industrial training will this year recruit over 500 hundred assessors to test the first batch of candidates for lower secondary vocational curriculum, being used by Senior One learners.
The curriculum that is aimed at producing self-sustaining students after completing ordinary level of education started in 2020 with senior one students, who will get their certificates at the end of senior three.
The acting director at the directorate of industrial training, Patrick Byakatonda explained that the government will remunerate the assessors appropriately to ensure a competent exercise. He revealed this as he presided over a training session for teachers for the lower secondary curriculum at Mbarara high school.
The headmaster of Mbarara High School Hamu Ahimbisibwe said they were already following the new curriculum.
