Kenya is due to go to the polls next year in August, but the country’s political tectonic plates have been fast shifting in recent months. Early this month, Deputy President William Ruto was dramatically stopped from boarding a Cessna private jet to fly to Uganda, amidst concerns about his glowing romance with the regime in Kampala. But as the uneasy political love triangle involving Ruto, President Uhuru Kenyatta, and opposition doyen, Raila Odingo, unfolds further in the run-up to the elections, there is good reason for Uganda to pay attention.
