FIBA WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS: Silverbacks bailed out by government
State Minister for Sports Hamson Obua has faulted the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations -FUBA for failing to meet the government criteria on requisitioning funds for traveling teams. The Minister claims that FUBA submitted its claim a day before the travel date which left them hand tied. On Tuesday, Nasser Sserunjogi the FUBA president issued a statement withdrawing the Silverbacks from the first round of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in Angola citing lack of funds. However it later turned out that government has given the team funds to travel to Angola for the competition that gets underway this weekend.
