Internal auditors urged to embrace artificial intelligence
Uganda's audit sector is pushing for greater adoption of technology and certification to enhance risk management and corporate governance. Speaking at the second Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) graduation organized by the Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda (IIA Uganda) in Kampala, Centenary Bank Managing Director Fabian Kasi stressed the importance of embracing AI to improve efficiency and add business value. Despite having over 800 registered internal auditors, only 183 are certified, highlighting the need for more professionals to pursue global accreditation. Certified auditors play a key role in identifying operational gaps and supporting project risk management.
