Health workers in Wakiso district blame traditional birth attendants
Health workers in Namayumba Sub-county in Wakiso district are concerned about the continued misinformation by traditional birth attendants who pose a huge threat to expectant mothers and their unborn babies.
According to Josephine Namutebi, a Nursing Officer at Namayumba Health Centre IV, despite the increased effort on maternal health awareness, the area still records child-maternal deaths, especially the young teenage mothers who get false information from these so-called traditional birth attendants residing in the community.
This particular concern came to light during a visit to Namayumba Health Centre IV by officials from ASA Microfinance Limited, who gave expectant mothers maternity kits to support them during their deliveries.
